On February 12, 2026, Li Yonghong, Deputy Secretary-General of the CCICED and Director-General of the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, met with Guri Sandborg, Climate and Environment Counsellor, and Joar L. Strand, Development Counsellor from Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing. The two sides held in-depth discussions on CCICED's work arrangements for 2026, preparations for the CCICED Phase VIII, and future cooperation directions.

Li Yonghong extended a sincere welcome to Guri Sandborg and Joar L. Strand and introduced the plans for policy research and major events in 2026, and preliminary considerations for the CCICED Phase VIII. The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing praised the important role and fruitful achievements of CCICED over the past three decades in promoting exchanges and mutual learning in the field of environment and development between China and foreign countries, as well as in driving global green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development. She expressed the willingness to continue strengthening cooperation in areas such as ocean governance, circular economy, climate change and biodiversity conservation under the framework of CCICED.
