On July 5, 2023, Expert Seminar of CCICED Special Policy Study (SPS) on Innovative Mechanisms for Sustainable Investment in Environment and Climate was held at Global Institute of China International Capital Corporation (CGI). The SPS was jointly led by CGI, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Storebrand Asset Management. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Chen Ji, the Executive Director of CGI, with Ms. Huimin Wu, Managing Director of CGI, and Mr. Zhang Huiyong, Director of CCICED Secretariat, attending the meeting and giving opening remarks. Zhang Jieqing, Country Director of NRDC China, gave a summary of the meeting.

Li Yating, a researcher at CGI, reported the research results of the SPS entitled "Sustainable Investment Practices of State-Owned Investors: International Experience and Policy Recommendations". She introduced in detail the seven initiatives and four types of policies for state-owned investors (specifically public pension funds and sovereign wealth funds), relevant international cases, domestic practices and policy recommendations. The experts fully affirmed the results achieved at this stage and agreed that state-owned investors could play an important role in guiding climate-sustainable financial innovation. The experts discussed the real challenges faced by asset owners in sustainable investment, the potential role they can play, and how to build a sustainable investment ecosystem in China's capital market.

The SPS expert advisors, representatives of the CCICED Secretariat and experts from CIC Research Institute, Boao Forum for Asia, China SIF, Planning and Research Institute at China Development Bank, CIB Carbon Finance Research Institute, SIIFC, IIGF at Central University of Finance and Economics, CGI's Research Department, China Impact Investment Network and Prosperity Investment participated in the discussion.
