On Oct 23, CCICED Special Policy Study on Major Green Technology Innovation and Implementation Mechanisms inception meeting was successfully held in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Liu Shijin, CCICED Chinese Chief Advisor and addressed by Mr. Scott Vaughan, CCICED International Chief Advisor. The meeting was attended by some 50 guests comprised of team leaders, experts, CCICED donors and partners, as well as Secretariat staff.
CCICED SPS on Major Green Technology Innovation and Implementation Mechanisms has been launched and experts shared views on the research scope, main issues, analytical framework and key tasks. Through intensive discussion, the scope of research and implementation plan was clarified, and the next step and key timeline was set out by the Chinese team leader.
This SPS will take a problem-oriented approach to identify the major challenges facing China’s urbanization, and review and classify major green technologies home and abroad by drawing on the international best practices and taking China’s conditions into account. It will also conduct evaluation on the economic, social and environmental performances from a life-cycle perspective and produce assessment indicators and methodologies, and study the institutional barrier and come up with policy recommendations on the implementation mechanisms, so as to provide practical, science-based, and forward-looking policy recommendations for green urbanization, and contribute to addressing global pressing issues including climate change, SDGs and CBD COP 15.
