On 9th November, Minister Chen Jining met Ms. Kristina Persson, Minister for Strategic Development and Nordic Cooperation, Prime Minister’s Office, Sweden. They have an in-depth exchange of opinions on cooperation in environmental protection.

Minister Chen Jining expressed his warm welcome to Ms. Persson and her delegation and introduced China’s environmental protection situations. He said that Chinese government attached great importance to environmental protection and focused on addressing the imbalance between economic development and environmental protection. As the biggest developing country in the world, China is under rapid industrialization and urbanization, facing great challenges in environmental protection and ecological civilization. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee made important arrangements for ecological civilization and environmental protection, which brings new opportunities for environmental protection. China and Sweden have a long history in environmental protection and China can draw on the experience of Sweden in promoting green growth and ecological innovation. China would like to join hands with Sweden to explore new cooperation models, and conduct in-depth exchanges in technologies, research and industries of environmental protection so as to promote win-win cooperation.

Ms. Persson highly recognized the achievements China has made in environmental protection. She hoped that two sides could strengthen cooperation and make greater contributions to global sustainable development.
